Hua Hin Hot Topics – Feeding Time

Hua Hin has gone from low to slow in recent weeks as the tourist season grinds to its annual halt and local businesses go into hibernation. Those that rely on the expat trade seem to do better since the numbers of foreigners choosing to settle in Hua Hin is on the increase. The forum is the only place online for expats to find out what is happening in and around town.

Unfortunately that is not the case for the Hua Hin Jazz Festival as we still have no idea whether it will even be held this year. The words organisation and communication evidently do not come into the vocabulary of those that arrange the event. Other events continue to delight though, they include beach polo championships, triathlons, regattas, and smaller local music festivals – Hua Hin is now firmly on the events map.

Ever popular on the forum is the feeding time section where restaurant goers recommend their favourite venues. This month there has been no shortage of them as smaller bars and eateries start appearing further out of town center. Sois 102 and 94 are now bustling little avenues of bars, restaurants, coffee shops and laundromats. Hua Hin has always been a great place for eating out, and the options are increasing every month – no longer do expats need to make the journey into town to fight for a parking spot.

Golfers are enjoying the low season as a number of courses have finally discounted their green fees, prices will fall even further in August when the annual Hua Hin Golf Festival kicks off again.

Nearly every month we get a new cost of living topic as those looking to relocate use the forum and its knowledge base to find out how much it costs to live in Hua Hin. Naturally everyone has different standards and expectations so there is no single figure to suit all.

The ever popular “ask the expats” section again had its share of weird and wonderful questions and requests which included bamboo tattoo artists, radio controlled aircraft, washing machine repairs, step ladders, postage problems, and even a band for hire. Whatever your question, you’ll get an answer fast on the Hua Hin Forum.
