Drive-through dining restaurants set their sights on the suburbs
Few retail formats symbolise the shifting expectations of consumers quite like drive-through dining. Since it was pioneered in the United States in the 1940s, the drive-through restaurant (or “drive-thru” as the signs proclaim) has enabled customers to consume light meals, soft drinks and coffees without leaving the comfort of their car.
