The nape, that slim passageway between the back of the head and the spine of the body, fascinates Christian de Laubadere. “The nape is what connects the heart and the brain,” said the French artist. “It’s sensual. It’s very fragile, so it’s precious.” At this point, Laubadere playfully mimes a neck being snapped to prove his point.
