Active involvement in military operations
In the 1970s, HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn was involved in campaigns against insurgent forces of the Communist Party of Thailand in the North and Northeast, and also took part in operations to provide protection around Cambodian refugee camps at Khao Lan in Trat province along the border with Cambodia during the years of the Khmer Rouge regime.
